Italian wanted to be Brazilian… and ended up murdered :(

This story has some years, it took place not too far away from I used to live at then. Whenever I remember it, it makes me sick. Ain’t no fairy tale…

Once upon a time there was a boy in Italy who came up to be a big fan of Brazilian culture. The years came and he decided to move here for good. Tomasso Lotto was just 26 years old when he finally came to Sao Paulo.

His arrival was on July 20th, 2012, a Friday. By Monday he was shot during an attempt of stealing his car. Unfortunately, he died at the same moment.

What makes me sick about this story is that this is not the first time that happened and it is sad to learn that many foreigners are attracted to Brazil by a untruthful propaganda of a “peaceful country”.

Brazil has around 50.000 deaths in the traffic alone. Add the other numbers to this, such as the victim killed by criminals, careless doctors, hungry, thirsty, and most evidently you have an astonishing figure around 4 to 5 times of the number of soldiers who died in Irak.

In other words, there’s a civil war taking place right here and people do not want to talk about it. They simply ignore it, completely.

The best picture I ever had of a “normal place” was when I went to Gainesville, FL in August 2014. I took one of their newspaper and there was only one notice about a crime in one whole week. Here you have notices of death every day.

Some people are so hypocrite that they blame poverty for all crimes. Ridiculous. My ancestral came from humble origins, they never killed nobody for any reason.

We do not have a weaken police force. They are also the target when it comes to face the criminals. In this country, people is only jailed after receiving their sentence. So, basically, a criminal can be answering for 15 to 20 crimes at the same time… that he is committing other crimes.

Seriously: the law around here challenges the common sense.
